SkyHigh Sports

Man, sometimes you just need to let your hair down and have a little fun.  Since my little bball phenom had a tournament down near the LA area this weekend I decided to take the kids to have some fun at a new place I found online, SkyHigh Sports in Woodland Hills.  This place is clean, big and loads of fun for not only the under 15 set but adults too.  No everyone doesn't have to take it to the extreme and jump into the "Monster Pit" like I did and oh trust me it took 15 minutes for me to get out of there so that will never happen again. Unfortunately I didn't see the 8 and under advisory on this one BUT the large trampoline was the absolute best.  You can check out my "adventure" here:

Yeah my dismount was a little rough but not bad for a 42 year old that weighs much more than her desired weight.  Needless to say I will be going back but next time I'll be sure I have my inhaler.

This Divas review of SkyHigh Sports is a 5 Cocktail glasses out of 5.  Did I mention they have a Parents Lounge too?  4 flat screens, comfy couches and a door to block out the noise.  Yep they have it all as well as FREE Valet parking.  Visit their website and go take a JUMP www.jumpskyhigh.com.

Dirty Martini | Janet Jackson show off new body on the cover of Prevention Magazine

Prevention Magazine - July 2012
When I first saw Janet Jackson's commercial for Nutrisystem, my first thought was why?  Why was Janet...Miss Jackson, if you're nasty was joining the laundry list of other celebs who have decided to jump on the weight loss spokesperson bandwagon.  But now that she has unveiled her new body I understand perfectly why she did it.  In the July issue of the magazine, Janet opens up about her life at 46, being the spokeswoman for Nutrisystem and her thoughts on her niece Paris' (Michael's daughter) decision to pursue an acting career at 14.

In the magazine, she says:

"Health was always a concern.  When I gained weight in 2005, my nutritionist was very worried.  I was close to having diabetes.  Even when I lost it and then gained quite a bit back, there was always the thought of heart disease."
"I don't like to work out, and I get bored easily.  Tony Martinez (her trainer) is great.  When I'm getting ready for a tour, I'll work out with the dancers.  He'll put  us in teams and we'll do all sorts of drills and races"
Well Miss Jackson, at 46 you look amazing!  To read more about Janet and her awesome transformation, make sure you pick up a copy of the July 2012 issue of Prevention Magazine.

Sizzling Hot Summer TV!

As the weather outside gets hotter, the same can be said for night time TV.  Last summer, our Style Diva, Robin fell in LOVE with Vh1's original show, Single Ladies and well it looks like season 2 will be even hotter and better!  Single Ladies is a romantic comedy series about 3 best friends - April, Keisha and Raquel, each with their own philosophy on love, sex and relationships, proving that not all women share the same desires.  Keisha played by Lisa Rae McCoy is a former video vixen who believes in making her own luck, money and who believes in selecting her men with her head instead of her heart.  April, played by Charity Shea thinks she's found the "ideal" man for the "picture perfect" marriage, but soon learns that all marriages don't end in a happily ever after.  In Season 2 we will be introduced to Raquel, played by Denise Vasi, a sophisticated business woman who is coming into her own and is calling the shots.

Single Ladies is a modern, sexy series set in the middle of Atlanta's fashion, music and celebrity scene that explores differences in which women approach relationships today.

Take a look at the sneak peek of what's to come.  And make sure you tune in for the season premiere on Monday, May 28, 2012 @ 9pm ET/PT on Vh1.  Oh and don't forget your cocktail...we're sure you'll need it!

Cheers!

Dirty Martini | Queen Latifah performs at 2012 Long Beach Pride event

All hail to the queen...Queen Latifah that is.  Latifah (AKA Dana Owens) jammed to a packed audience at the 2012 Long Beach Pride Event.  Some media outlets are saying that Latifah, whose romantic life has always been a mystery that the singer/producer/actress "outed" herself when she  told the crowd of about 1,000 people "Y'all my peeps, I love you!, referring to the LGBT community.  Not sure how one can deduce from that statement that Latifah "outed" herself, but if there is one thing that I can say for sure is that whether straight or gay, the Queen showed us why she still reigns supreme as one of the most talented artist of our generation.

All hail to the Queen...Latifah that is!

Top 5 FAV Cocktail Dresses from ModCloth

Every girl loves a pretty dress. One that shows all the right features and accents her in her flawed areas. These 5 dresses I picked from
ModCloth.com do just that and don't hurt your wallet either. Which one do you love?

The Midnight Sun Dress is chic with the flair to go there. Balancing a glass of champagne with platform sandals would look effortless in this frock.

Swoon on the Lagoon is perfect for the Island Hopper for this summer. Can't you see yourself arriving at the party matching the colors of the beach...Kaute!

The Flow, Flow, Quick, Quick is your easy access for VIP line jumping to get into that exclusive cocktail party. Don't hurt em!

Windy City Dress you say? It is perfect for hanging with your new blogger friends after the #BBSummit this July in ChiTown. Don't forget your diamond studded martini glass.

Cocktail Hours and Yours dress is my personal top pick. Seasons hottest color accented with retro charm, sniggle... I just might catch more than I bargain for in this one. No autographs please!

Hot Topics | Baby put in washer at New Jersey laundromat

As a mom of three beautiful children it is my job to protect them as best I can, from the outside world and now it seems that I also have to protect them against dumb a@# babysitters.  Now I know people have and will do some dumb things out there, but putting a baby in a washer at the laundromat...well this is about as dumb as they get.  What makes this story even worse is that apparently the prosecutor in Camden County,  New Jersey, doesn't even consider what they did a crime.

"This was not an intelligent choice to put the baby in the washing machine, but it was not a crime."
                                                                    -Prosecutor's office spokesman Jason Laughlin.

Ummmm hello, can anyone say child endangerment?  I wonder what the prosecutor would have done if it were his/her child.

If this was your child, what would you do?

Dirty Martini | Confessions

Somebody needs a shave!
Mr. Raymond (Usher that is)  has gotten himself into a little thing called a custody battle with his ex and they are playing all the durty durty out in court.  Below are court reporters notes from the, well let's call it event of Raymond VS. Raymond.  Notes in RED provided by MOI.

=======================================================================

Usher showed up at Tameka's house with his girlfriend Grace Miguel.

Tameka started hitting him, throwing food and spitting at his girlfriend. (Basically going HAM)

Tameka approached him and Grace and "wanted to fight." He said that Tameka walked up to the car and said, "I'm gonna kick your a@!. B_____ get out of the car. How dare you bring this woman into my subdivision in my house?"

He added, "She continued to spit.  At this point she pulled the door open, tried to swing at her." <-----WOW

=======================================================================

Okay kiddies, that's enough, let's remember your babies are watching what ya'll do.  Ush you shoulda listened to your Mama on this one.  Sometimes we really do know what's best.  For now I'd say don't take your boo-thang over to Tameka's its obvious she don't play that!

#Hotness | May 2012 Birchbox Review

Our very own Robin (AKA Style Diva) just received her May 2012 Gossip Girl inspired Birchbox.  Take a look at some of the great products that were inside.

Rounding up our Panelist Cast | JrTheBossMan

Last to be introduced but certainly NOT least is JrTheBossMan, recent Masters' degree grad.  Whoot Whoot!  If it's one thing we've found out about listening to his show is that he's funny, he LIVES sports and he has an opinion and has NO problem telling you what it is.  So without further adieu meet The Boss Man:

Relationship Quote: "If you base your relationship off of what a comedian turn "alleged" love doctor has to say, my lady, you gonna be SINGLE like a PRINGLE."

Jermaine is the name, keeping it real is my thing. Better known to the masses as JR or most frequently JR The Bossman.

JR is a recent Masters' graduate from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN, where he also received his Bachelors' degree from as well. He splits time between the cities of Nashville, Atlanta and Orlando, when he's not on the road covering a NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL or some other pertinent event live.

JR hosts his own sports show on BlogTalkRadio nightly at Midnight ET/11 PM CT and weekends at 6PM ET/5PM CT

Besides talking sports, JR loves talking relationships, JR believes that women should be held accountable and taken to task in the same manner that mainstream media takes men to task. He is not afraid to call women on the stuff that they do. He calls it how he sees it, whether you like or NOT, he doesn't care. Because the truth is what it is and it will set you free.

Another HEAVY Hitta for our #MenTalk Panelist | Harvey Christian

Harvey has been chatting with us all week about #MenTalk and The Divas think he just might give us more trouble than the rest on the panel.  Just remember Harvey it's all done in fun!  :)  Get to know Mr. Christian.

Bio:

Harvey Christian
Detroit, Michigan
married 12 years to Nicole
(2) children Noah 7, Haley 3

Relationship Quotes: 1) Always remember, God does not promise you life will be easy but he does promise to be there with you every step of the way.
2) Marriage is a journey.
3) You may not always "like" your spouse but you should always love and respect each other.

I was born, raised and educated in Detroit, Michigan. My parents divorced when I was 4. I was raised by my mother. She ruled with an iron fist. She was a mother that knew she could raise me to be an adult but understood she could not make me a man. So, she made sure I had strong male influences, my uncles. The man I have become is because of her and them.

I have been married 12 years. I see myself as old and new school. I have northern sensibilities and southern values. I believe I have a responsibility to be the spiritual head of my household. I should also be a provider. I do not however believe I should be the sole provider if that is not what my wife wants. Nor am I the "boss". My wife and I are equal partners in our corporation. The table in our "board room" is round. We work together for the good of our family and the happiness of our marriage.

We are diggin' your bow-tie style, we think our resident Fashionista @perceptionandco will love it too.  Oh don't forget she's on the show this Saturday too.  Well one more panelist to introduce to you all and then Erika and Robin will be getting some rest for Round 1 of #MenTalk.

Meet our Panelist | Talk 2 Q

We are finally ready to talk relationships with the fellas. Joining us this week are 4 brave men and The Divas would like to introduce you to our first victim (LOL).

Relationship Quote:

"Some people mistake tolerance for love. They think to themselves, 'since I put up with you, then I must love you.'"

Bio:

Marital Status: Married in 2002 to the lady I affectionately call "The Mrs."
Kids: None. However, I have two wonderful godchildren: Devan (DOB: 2003) and Erin (DOB: 2006).

About me:

I'm old school. Being blessed with a two-parent household as a child, I was raised with many traditional values from the Old South. Examples: taking my hat/cap off before entering someone's home, holding a door for a lady to enter first, a firm handshake, making eye contact when speaking with people, and being accountable for my actions to name a few. As crazy as it sounds, those things are becoming a lost art. Too many boys out there lack the man training that is necessary to continue the dwindling cycle of main components of manhood. Pride, responsibility and accountability have been replaced with entitlement, dependency and deflection. My goal is to return things to the way they should be.

Well, well, well we certainly can't wait to get his "some things just need to be said" approach to relationships this Saturday. Q's info is below please be sure to follow him and his weekly BlogTalk show. More guest intros coming soon. Get your cocktail glass ready!

To get to know Q more:

Blog: http://www.ThankQ.me

It will be called "Hungry for Knowledge" and it will also feature the return of a young lady named Mylauney Billups (Queens, NY - @CherryLetters). The Talk 2 Q Radio Show airs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays @ 10 PM EDT.

Up Next at Bat for #MenTalk | TrueSpeech

This next brother really had us laughing when we said we wanted to have him on the show to talk relationships because the first thing we had to say was...you gotta tone it down for Saturday morning airtime.  LOL  JK, you can't tame this one!  Check out what he has to say.....

Relationship Quote: " Two pilots cannot fly a plane at the same time. It takes a pilot and Co-Pilot working together to make it to the destination safely and successfully."

I am a young opinionated intellectual Imported from Detroit, here to present reality according to me. I am Blogger; Thinker, artist, and above all a realist and I love to voice my opinion and intelligently discuss and debate differing views with others whose views I respect. I speak as much Truth as possible, and as raw as I can deliver it, because the truth should never be overcooked.

Kickin The CRAP is OVA well sorta...

April is over and the 31st was officially the end of Kickin the CRAP movement.  But how can I kick something to the side that helped me lose 7 - 8 lbs (depending on what scale I was on) that Big Poppie said was only water weight - forget him.  LOL

If you remember CRAP stands for Caffeine, Refined Sugar, Alcohol, Processed Foods and the point was to get rid of it for the month of April.  Well let's just say I fell off the wagon more than one time but I did make some major improvements.  I learned to cook some great meals, prepare for lunch and understand what really is IN the foods I'm eating - there is some scary stuff in there.  So this was such a great lesson for me and the kiddos.  I can't say I'm getting rid of the quick and easy fix of pizza in a box or Hamburger Helper but doing more fresh and less fast is going to totally get me over the hump!  Thanks for cheering me on and to one of my girls LaJuan Wilks for Kickin It with me.

Monday Funny

After watching all of the day time TV shows talk about it; after reading countless Facebook and Twitter post; and after reading review after review about it on some of my favorite blogs and websites; I finally bit the bullet.  I bought the book 50 Shades of Grey and boy they weren't lying.  This book is HOT.

But with all this talk about the book...and talk about the book becoming a movie, I knew that it was only a matter of time before someone did a spoof of/about it and well the good folks at Saturday Night Live didn't disappoint.  And just in time for Mother's Day no less.

So for all you dads out there trying to figure out what to get mom on her day.  How about the Kindle Fire and the book 50 Shades of Grey.

Have a Happy Monday!
Erika
