Hello Gorgeous!

We invite you to join us for the month of June as we sit down and have an in-depth conversation on beauty and what it means to be beautiful today in our "new" series Hello Gorgeous.  Over the next 5 weeks, we will sit down and talk to women at different ages and find out what it means to be "beautiful" today and explore how their definition of beauty has changed over the years.  We'll also take a look at how  society defines beauty on TV and in magazines and discuss whether their imaging are on point or are still miles apart from how "real" women look at and define beauty.

We're having "real" talk about "real" issues that are affecting women today and we hope that you will join us on this important topic.

How do you define beauty?  Has your definition on what it means to be beautiful changed as you've gotten older?  Share with us your thoughts on the subject in the comments section below.

You Are So Beautiful To Me...Can't You See

You ARE beautiful, just the way you are and that is exactly the point Dove successfully drives home in their new ad Dove Real Beauty Sketches.  I would have to say that this is one of the most original and touching experiments to come from the company's Campaign for Real Beauty.  In this video Dove mission is to empower women to appreciate their inherent beauty, while driving home the point too that sometimes we judge ourselves too harshly.  It's sad that we as women (me included) are oftentimes too critical of ourselves; instead on focusing on things that we LOVE about ourselves and our bodies, we focus on those things that we don't like and want to improve.

In this social experiment, Dove explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.  It's quite eye opening.

So take a look at the video and then let us know what you think.  And while you do that, I'm going to stand in the mirror and celebrate all the little things I LOVE about myself instead of focusing on the things that I don't.  Feel free to do the same after you've watched the video.  I promise you, you'll be glad you did!

5 Questions with Brandalyn Fulton

Makeup has been key since the Divas have progressed into their 40s so it's natural to have a professional makeup artist on our show.  The greatest part is she knows and we mean really knows makeup.  Brandalyn Fulton is a Broadway make up artist and has worked on magnificent shows like The Lion King - hmmm impressive!  You'll get to find out more about that on the show Saturday but for now get to know Brandalyn with these 5 Questions.

1.     What book are you currently reading on your Kindle?
The Power of a Praying Wife

2.       Clowns, scary or cool?
Good clowns – cool! Bad clowns – scary!

3.       If you were a character in a movie who would you be?
Remember the movie 127 Hours! It is based on a true story! While I would never want to be stuck in a National Park for several days with no food or water, I am constantly reminded of this character when going through life! I want to persevere through all things just like Aron Ralston.

4.       Where is the best Happy Hour in NYC?
I am usually working during “Happy Hour,” but when I am not, I love to go to a new spot around the corner from my apartment in East Harlem called Harley’s BBQ. The drinks are great and I love how it feels like the modern day Cheers!

5.       What was the best part of moving from MI to NYC?
I’m still struggling with this because I get homesick at times, but the best part is pursuing my dreams for a career in TV, Fashion, Theater and hopefully soon, Film. Some of things I have accomplished, I would not be able to do if I lived in Michigan so that is the best part for me.

Visit Brandalyn on her website www.brandalynfultononline.com and see how this expert artist is not only taking her career to the next level but share in her passion for all things beauty.  B stands for Beauty is HAUTE!

See you on the show Saturday 8AM EST www.blogtalkradio.com/cocktailsandconversations
